“Iraq War veteran and his dog nearly die in 95-degree home waiting for Lightning Mechanical to complete service of home’s AC unit. This dramatic headline could have been prevented if Tyler at Lightning Mechanical had actually done his job. This company has some serious issues. With 188 5 star reviews, I must wonder how many of these reviews are fake! Because here are the details of my 2 weeks of waiting on Lightning Mechanical to do the job they were contracted to do.
It starts on Monday 7 July and ends on 19 July 2024, 12 long days waiting on Tylor to submit paperwork to the warranty company. 12 days in the hot, humid 95 plus degree Florida weather. Lightning Mechanical does have some great employees like Nicklas the Tec that came out to service the unit and Veronica the friendly voice who answers the phone.
All the information to get my AC unit fixed was acquired by Nicklas the tec at the service call performed on the 8th of July. On 10 July the warranty company authorized the new work order for the follow-up service (a very fast turnaround at one and a half days). It took Tylor at Lightning Mechanical over a week to submit the diagnosis on my system. Tylor who has many 5 star reviews according to their web page, did not submit the paperwork till 6AM the Monday following the initial service call. That is a full week after the tec visit. Tylor seems to be the single point of failure for Lightning Mechanical. From 8 July to 15 July Tylor had 8 full days to submit this paperwork all the while I sat in a home with no AC waiting.
It gets even worse, again Tylor the single point of failure, needed to answer a few addition questions for the warranty company after the Diag was submitted, simple questions like how old the unit was, where is it located, and restate the problem so the warranty company could authorize the complete replacement of the system. Tylor was too busy to complete this required process, keep in mind that Lightning Mechanical has a contract with the warranty company, so they know how the paperwork system works.
Tylor the single point of failure at Lightning Mechanical, is the only one who submits the paperwork according to Veronica. I called Veronica several times to check on the status of the work order. The warranty company kept me informed about the diagnosis not being submitted. Veronica stated she would ask him to submit the paperwork on two different occasions. It was not done.
So how does a company like Lightning Mechanical get 188 5 Star reviews when they treated me like this, it took them over 12 days to do about nothing while I sat in a home with no AC in Florida weather. How does this all end? On 19 July a new company was assigned the work order, as Tylor the failure at Lightning Mechanical had not completed the paperwork. 12 days of suffering just for Lightning Mechanical to tell the veteran and his dog, we are too busy to complete our service with you after 2 full weeks of waiting.
This would be the last company I would call to service my AC unit. Lighting Mechanical Never Again.”
